Occupational Limited Licenses: Driving After A License Suspension

A license suspension due to a criminal charge or violation means losing your driving privileges in Pennsylvania and other states. But people often find that they can lose more than just this privilege — they may lose their job and source of income as well.

At the Law Offices of Patrick F. Lauer, Jr. LLC, we not only know how to handle license suspensions and revocation cases, we also know the process of securing occupational limited licenses (OLLs) for individuals who need to drive in order to sustain their livelihood. At our firm, attorney Jr. is the person who can help make this happen.

The Process Of Seeking An Occupational Limited License

There are many crimes that can cause the state to suspend your driver’s license, including drug possession charges, certain traffic violations and some DUI offenses, just to name a few. Fortunately, drivers in Pennsylvania who have had their license suspended because of a crime may be eligible for an OLL.

An OLL grants an individual limited driving privileges — such as the ability to drive to and from work — for the length of the license suspension. OLLs are often sought by drivers with commercial driver’s licenses who are typically most affected by a license suspension.

It’s important to know that an OLL can only be sought if you’ve been convicted of certain crimes and even then, there is no guarantee that the state will grant you limited driving privileges.

At the Law Offices of Patrick F. Lauer, Jr. LLC, our lawyers carefully review our client’s driving record, their current situation and their previous criminal record to determine if there is anything that would jeopardize their eligibility for an OLL. We then walk our clients through the paperwork process and answer any questions they may have.

If a request for an OLL is denied, we can also assist with petitions for an Administrative Hearing if necessary.
